As tomorrow is pongal, I wanted to share easy, quick pongal recipes prepared with aval and jaggery. The taste will be awesome and you will feel the difference from rice pongal when eating. This follows the same process like rice pongal but the taste will be heavenly. Wish you all a happy pongal with a delicious aval pongal.
- Aval – 1 cup
- Toor dal – 1/2 cup
- Milk – 5 tsp
- Jaggery – 1/2 cup
- Elachi – 3
- Ghee – 2 tsp
- Cashew nuts – 6
- Raisins – 6
1.Wash toor dal and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles. Mash it well and keep aside.
2.Rinse aval with water 2-3 times and drain the water.
3.Heat jaggery with little water until it gets immersed and boil it until it becomes little thick. No need of any consistency.
4.Add the mashed dal and aval, cook on medium flame until it thickens.
5.Add milk and elachi, mix well. Cook in low flame until it becomes thick.
6.Fry cashews and raisins in ghee and add to the pongal along with ghee.
7.Remove from heat and stir well. Serve warm and enjoy.
