Aval pongal is very simple and tasty recipe that needs very few ingredients to prepare. After trying this ven pongal I was really surprised with its taste. It is really awesome and can be served as breakfast for babies and kids. Red aval is from brown rice and has more health benefits.
- Aval – 1 cup
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Pepper seeds – 1 tsp
- Ghee – 2 tsp
- Cashews – 8
- Raisins – 8
- Salt – as required
1.Wash the aval well and soak in water for a minute.
2.Heat ghee and add cumin and pepper seeds. When they pop up add the soaked Aval along with little water.
3.Add salt and mix well. Cook for few minutes until it gets cooked and water evaporates.
4.Then fry Cashews and raisins in ghee and add to the pongal.
5.Mix well and serve hot.
