Barley papaya halwa can be given to babies from 7th month after introducing barley and papaya separately. Barley is a good source of Vitamin A, Folate and even protein.
- Barley – 3 tsp
- Papaya – 1 cup
- Water – 1 cup
- Ghee – 1 sp
1.Wash barley in a bowl and wash properly.
2.Pressure cook it adding water for 6 whistles or until it is cooked well.
3. Check for softness of barley and blend it finely in a blender if you want the halwa to be smooth. (optional)
4.Peel the skin, remove the seeds at centre and mash papaya well.
5.Heat ghee in a pan and add the blended barley into it and stir in medium flame.
6.Add mashed papaya and cook for few minutes.
7.When they are mixed well transfer to the serving bowl.
- Any fruit can be added to this instead of papaya.
- No need to add any sweetener and the sweetness in the fruit is enough for the baby.
