CURD SEMIYA | THAYIR SEMIYA

Curd semiya is a simple, quick and tasty breakfast recipe. This can also be served for lunch instead of normal curd rice. Curd semiya is a wonderful summer recipe that tastes delightful when served chill. My baby loved eating it as she is a very big fan of curd.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Semiya – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Curd – 1 cup
  • Salt – as required

FOR TEMPERING:

  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – pinch
  • Ginger powder – 1 tsp
  • Green chilli – 1

FOR GARNISHING:

  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Cashews chopped – 3
  • Raisins – 5

METHOD:

1.Cook semiya with water adding salt. stir well until it gets cooked.

2.Drain excess water and transfer to mixing bowl. Add curd to it and mix well.

3.Fry cashews and raisins in ghee and add to semiya.

4.Temper items listed under “for tempering” and add to the curd semiya. Mix everything together.

5.The creamy yummy curd semiya is ready to serve.

NOTE:

  • A piece of ginger can be used instead of ginger powder.
  • Grated carrots can be added for added taste and making it healthier.
  • I didn’t add green chilli as I prepared it for the baby.
