Eggless donuts recipe with step-wise pictures. Donuts is a deep fried dessert that is famous in many countries. Eggless Donuts is my favorite confectionery and I love simple sugar doughnuts so much. Doughnuts are available in various flavors and in different colored toppings like blue, pink and yellow. The dough is prepared adding yeast and deep fried in oil by making it in ring shape. This is my first recipe in this new year and turned out too good. I have prepared in three variations by coating it in sugar and cinnamon, dipping it in simple glaze and chocolate glaze.

INGREDIENTS:


FOR DOUGHNUTS:

  • All purpose flour – 2 and 1/2 cups
  • Salt – pinch
  • Milk powder – 3 tbsp
  • Dry yeast – 2 tsp
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Powdered Sugar – 1 cup
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Oil – for deep frying

FOR CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

  • Powdered Sugar – 1 cup
  • Cocoa powder – 2 tbsp
  • Milk – 2 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp

METHOD:

1. We shall start with activating yeast. Take yeast and a tsp of powdered sugar in a bowl. Pour warm milk and mix well to dissolve yeast. Let it rest in warm place for 10-15 minutes until the milk becomes frothy.

2. Take flour, milk powder, salt and remaining sugar in a bowl. Mix everything together.

3. Add butter, vanilla essence and activated yeast milk to the flour mixture and mix. Knead well to make sticky dough.

4. Cover and let rest for 1 hour until the dough doubled in size. I kept overnight as the climate here is very chill.

5. After it is doubled in size, punch the dough to release air. Add little flour and knead again to make non sticky dough.

6. Dust some flour in flat surface and roll the dough flat using rolling pin.

7. Cut into round shape and make small hole at center of each doughnut with small bottle cap.

8. Arrange all the pieces in a plate and let rest for 30 minutes for the dough to rise again.

9. Heat oil in wide pan and drop the doughnuts carefully into oil. Fry until it turns golden brown on all sides.

10. Drain the oil in kitchen tissues and roll into powdered sugar to make sugar doughnuts.

PREPARING CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

11. Take powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla essence in a bowl. Add milk little by little and mix to get thick chocolate glaze. 

12. Dip the doughnuts one by one in chocolate glaze and allow to dry. You can also sprinkle colored sugar balls.
