INGREDIENTS:

  • Green moong dal – 1/4 cup
  • Green chilli – 1
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – pinch
  • Pepper – 6
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as required
  • Oil – 1 tsp

METHOD:

1. Wash the green moong dal and soak it for 8 hours or overnight.

2. Next day, add it to pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles. Once done, mash it or puree with hand blender or mixer adding a cup of water.

3. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds. Once it splutters, add asafoetida and saute for a minute.

4. Now pour the mashed dal along with a cup of water, required salt, slitted green chilli and crushed pepper.

5. Mix well and boil in low flame for 5 minutes. Switch off the flame and add lemon juice. Mix and serve hot.

6. Garnish with Coriander leaves or with dollop of fresh cream.
