Jackfruit appam or Jackfruit sweet paniyaram recipe with step-wise pictures. Jackfruit appam is a delicious, traditional festival sweet that is prepared with seasonal fruit Jackfruit. The authentic recipe is prepared with rice flour and deep fried. I have modified it into healthier version by frying it in appe pan and made with whole wheat flour. This is crispy, aromatic, flavorful and amazingly tasty.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Jackfruit – 4 pieces
  • Wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Rava – 1/3 cup
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Salt – pinch
  • Cardamom – 3
  • Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
  • Baking powder – pinch
  • Ghee – for frying

METHOD:

1. Remove the seed in jackfruit and chop it roughly. Take the jackfruit pieces in blender and grind coarsely without adding water. Keep aside.

2. Take wheat flour in a wide mixing bowl. Add rava, baking powder, salt, sugar, coconut and crushed cardamom to it. Mix together.

3. Add the Jackfruit mixture to it along with required water. Mix together with ladle into a thick smooth batter. Keep aside for 10 minutes.

4. Heat appe pan adding ghee to all the holes. Mix the batter well and pour into the pan. Cook covered in medium flame and flip carefully to the other side.

5. Cook until it turns golden brown on all sides. Remove from pan and repeat for remaining batter.

6. The delicious jackfruit appam is ready. Serve hot and enjoy as evening snack.
