Mattar Ki kheer or green peas payasam is a punjabi dish. What??? Kheer with peas…… Yessssss… Unusual kheer but must to try. I saw this recipe in a magazine and today I prepared green peas smoothie for my baby( recipe in baby foods) so tried this with the remaining peas.The outcome is greeny,creamy and delish.
- Green peas – 1/2 cup
- Water – 1 cup
- Milk – 2 cups
- Sugar-1/2 cup
- Ghee – 2 sp
- Milkmaid – 2 sp
- Nuts, elachi- as required
1.Wash and Pressure cook green peas for two whistles with water.
2.After the peas gets cooked,drain excess water (will be used again) and blend smoothly in a blender.
3.Heat ghee in a bowl and add this peas mixture and the drained water.
4.Cook till the raw smell vanishes, add boiled milk.
5.When the milk reduces to half, add sugar,milkmaid and nuts fried in ghee.
6.Stir well for two minutes.
- Green peas poli can be made by using this as stuffing in middle by skipping milk.
