This healthy khicidi can be given to babies from 8 months. A fast growing baby needs super healthy foods like this to get charged. This yummy khichdi made with mixed sprouts like green gram, chickpeas, horse gram, yard long beans and peanuts. This can be accompanied by homemade curd.
- Sprouted grains – 1 cup
- Steamed rice – 1 /2 cup
- Onion (chopped) – 1
- Tomato (chopped) – 1/2
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Cumin seeds – 1 /2 tsp
- Tumeric powder – 1 /4 tsp
- Ghee – 1 tsp
1.Wash well and pressure cook sprouted grains in cooker with water for about 4 whistles.
2.Heat ghee in a kadai, add cumin seeds and onion.
3.When they become translucent, add garlic and tomato. Saute for few minutes.
4.Add turmeric powder and sprouted grains, stir well.
5.Add mashed rice and cook covered for a minute.
6.Stir well until they become thick and combine together.
7.Serve with homemade curd.
- Soak green gram, chickpeas, horse gram, yard long beans and peanuts in water overnight.
- Drain the water and keep them in sprout maker/ keep them covered in a pan for 7-8 hrs to get sprouted grains.
