PAVAKKAI FRY | BITTER GOURD FRY

This fry is very simple and easy to make. I dont cook bitter gourd often as I am sweet toothed person but my husband likes it. He asked me to cook bitter gourd and picked few of them when shopping so thought of doing this asking my mother. This is crispy and tasty to eat and not at all bitter as we are frying in oil.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Bitter gourd – 2
  • Gram flour / Besan – 3 tsp
  • Rice flour – 2 tsp
  • Curd – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as required
  • Oil – for deep frying

METHOD:


1.Wash and slice bitter gourd into thin circles. Remove the seeds at center and transfer to mixing bowl.

2.Add all the ingredients to it except oil and mix well. Sprinkle little water if required and keep aside for 10 minutes.

3.Heat oil in pan for deep frying. When the oil is hot drop the pieces and fry till it turns golden brown.

4.Drain excess oil and serve hot.
