I tried this peas upma as a second day dish of introducing peas to my baby. I was delighted to see her waiting for the next spoon. The greeny texture and mild taste made her to eat full bowl. So do try it out sometime.
- Green peas – 3 tsp
- Moong dal-2 tsp
- Rava/sooji-2 tsp
- Cumin seeds-1/2 sp
- Onion-2 tsp(optional)
- Ghee-1/2 sp
1.Wash green peas and dal, pressure cook both together or boil with water for 20 minutes.
2.Drain excess water and blend or mash it together smoothly.
3.Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds and some pieces of onion. Cook till it becomes translucent.
4.Add dal peas mixture to it and saute for few minutes till raw smell of peas goes.
5.Add water and when it starts to boil, add roasted rava.
6.Stir well until the rava gets completely cooked.
- No need to add salt for babies below one year.
- Onions can be given to babies from 8th month.
- After it gets cool becomes thick so consistency can be adjusted by adding mother milk or formula milk before serving.
- Blend peas finely to avoid choking. The peas at top in the picture are for decoration.
