POHA KHEER

Poha / Aval can be given to babies from 6 months after introducing basic foods. Poha is one of the healthiest breakfast options packed with iron and carbohydrates. It is ideal travelling food for babies. I have prepared this kheer for Shravanthi with dates, dry fruits and very special ingredient called “MOTHER LOVE” 🙂 :-). Also, we accompanied her having aval payasam with jaggery.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Poha – 5 tsp
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Dry fruits powder – 2 tsp
  • Dates – 5
  • Cardamom powder – pinch
  • Mother milk / formula milk – 1/2 cup

METHOD:

1.Soak dates in water for 5 minutes and grind coarsely adding little water.

2.Heat ghee in a pan, add poha and fry for a minute.

3.When the colour changes, add water, dry fruits powder, Cardamom powder and dates puree.

4.Stir it well till the poha gets cooked and becomes thick.

5.Switch off flame and let it cool. Add milk and mix everything well before serving.

  • Dates syrup can be added instead of puree.
