Pori upma is a easy, tasty breakfast recipe that can be prepared in a minutes. I came to know this recipe from my north Indian friend when I was in school. She use to bring this as lunch and we would share and love to have this. I’m trying this after so many years now. This can also be served as healthy evening snack for the kids with added veggies. I didn’t add any vegetable as I prepared it as breakfast in no time. This is similar to aval upma that I posted before.
- Pori – 1 cup
- Onion – 1
- Tomato – 1
- Mustard seeds – 1 /2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 /2 tsp
- Peanut powder – 2 tsp
- Ginger powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder – 1 /4 tsp
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Salt – as required
1.Wash pori in running water and then drain excess water and keep aside.
2.Heat oil in pan, add mustard and cumin seeds. When they splutter add onion and saute until turns translucent.
3.Add tomato and stir fry for a minute. Then add turmeric, chilli and ginger powder.
4.Saute well for a minute until the raw smell goes and add pori.
5.Mix well gently in low flame. Add salt and peanut powder, give a quick mix and remove from flame.
6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
- Roasted peanuts can be added instead of powder.
- Lemon can be squeezed finally for sour taste. I skipped it as I have added tomato.
