POTATO CURD GRAVY

The simple potato curd gravy is the best accompaniment for chapathi or pori. This can be prepared easily at home using leftover curd. The gravy will be very delicious and you can not find the taste of curd when cooked with potato.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Potato – 3
  • Curd – 1/2 cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 1
  • Turmeric powder – 1 /3 tsp
  • Chilli powder – 1 /2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 /2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 /2 tsp
  • Salt – as required
  • Oil – 1 tsp

METHOD:

1.Wash and pressure cook potatoes for the three whistles. Peel the skin and cut potato into small pieces. 

2.Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard and cumin seeds and when they pop up add chopped onion.

3.Saute well until it changes colour and add tomato and cook until mushy.

4.Add curd to it and mix well. Then add salt along with turmeric, chilli, coriander and garam masala powders. 

5.Stir well and add chopped potato along with required water for the gravy.

6.Cook for few minutes until the oil separates and floats at top.

7.The yummy gravy is ready to serve with chapathis.

NOTE:

  • Vegetables like green peas, carrots, cauliflower can be added.
  • Add cashew paste for rich taste and consistency.
