RAGI RECIPES | FINGER MILLET RECIPES

Ragi recipes with stepwise pictures. Finger millet / ragi is one of the staple grains in India and it is full of goodness. It is also a wonder grain which is very healthy and gives needed nutrients to our body. It is very good to include ragi in our diet often. Here I have compiled all the ragi recipes that I have prepared. It includes breakfast, baby foods, drink, cakes, dessert and snacks recipes.

1. RAGI AND CUCUMBER PANIYARAM

Ragi and cucumber are very good in aiding weight loss. Cucumber which contains 95% of water has high fibers and cooling to our body. The ragi paniyaram can be served as served as breakfast or evening snacks.

2. RAGI MASALA NOODLES

Ragi noodles is a healthy, tasty breakfast recipe. I am sharing the recipes of both homemade and ready-made noodles here.

3. SANTHAGAI / RAGI SWEET IDIYAPPAM

Santhagai is one of the forgotten traditional south Indian recipe prepared during festivals in villages. It is also called as santhakali in our place. It looks similar to idiyappam or thin noodles but the strings are little thick. 

4. RAGI AND WHEAT WAFFLE

I have shared a quick waffle recipe prepared using homemade sathu maavu (health mix) and ragi flour. These crispy and soft waffle have a nice texture and pleasant flavor. This is also eggless and healthy as I have used jaggery.

5. RAGI MALT / RAGI SWEET PORRIDGE

Ragi malt is the years old traditional healthy drink prepared at our home. It is nutritious and delicious drink that can be prepared easily at home without getting store bought mixes. 

6. EGGLESS RAGI COOKIES

Ragi cookies is a crispy, delicious, healthy snacks for kids and everyone at home. It is rich in Iron, protein and calcium. The cookies is made of ragi and whole wheat flour. 

7. QUICK RAGI DOSA

This ragi dosa can be prepared instantly without fermentation of batter. This is very good breakfast option for your quick day.

8. RAGI PUTTU / STEAMED CAKE

Ragi would taste extra ordinary when made as puttu and it is a healthy option as we are steaming. I have prepared it with idly cooker. 

9. EGGLESS CHOCOLATE COOKER CAKE

This ragi chocolate cake is soft, fluffy and moist just like the cake baked in oven. Also it is eggless and healthy. I have frosted the cake with cookie chocolate custard that I prepared separately as dessert.

10. BANANA RAGI PANCAKE

The pancake with ragi and banana can be given to babies from 8 months of age. It can be served as breakfast or evening snacks.

11. RAGI BISCUITS WITHOUT OVEN

Ragi biscuits is a healthy snack to kids as it is made with ragi and Wheat flours. This can be prepared easily without oven. 

12. RAGI APPLE HALWA

Ragi and Apple can be introduced to babies from 6 months. This can be served as a dessert after introducing these two separately.Regular consumption of ragi strengths baby bones and helps for muscle growth. 

13. RAGI DRUMSTICK LEAVES NEI MAAVU

This is healthy snack that is prepared in kadai after making homemade ghee. The pleasant aroma of ghee and ragi fills the entire house.
