SAMBA WHEAT PUTTU | GODHUMAI PUTTU

Samba wheat puttu is a kerala puttu with goodness of wheat. I usually make ragi puttu and rice puttu at home for breakfast. This is my first attempt in making wheat puttu and liked it more than other puttu recipes. Believe me it is very very tasty and aromatic. I used samba wheat flour that I got from store, you can use atta flour too. It becomes perfect breakfast or evening snack when served with nendram banana and sugar.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Wheat flour – 2 cups
  • Banana – 1
  • Coconut – 1 cup
  • Water – as required

METHOD:

1.Take wheat flour in mixing bowl and add water little by little and mix well in hand.

2.Mix until it forms crumbles and when are able to hold shape with the flour. This is right puttu consistency. 

3.Take a puttu maker and fill the bottom with coconut, then with puttu flour, add chopped banana at top and again fill with puttu flour.

4.Place the puttu maker at top of pressure cooker and cook for 5-10 minutes or until you get nice aroma of steamed puttu. I have used small puttu maker that is placed at top of cooker.

5.If you don’t have puttu maker, you can prepare in idly cooker by placing the puttu flour in idly plate and steam for 10 minutes. I have prepared in both ways.

6.Serve the puttu with sugar, banana and coconut milk.
