Rava appam is a instant delicious sweet traditional snack that is also very healthy. I have prepared this appam with sooji and wheat flour. This is similar to brown rice nei appam that I have already posted. This is also a karthigai deepam festival recipe. I did this appam as a evening snack and it stayed soft even after hours of preparation.
- Rava – 1 cup
- Jaggery – 1 cup
- All purpose flour – 2 tsp
- Wheat Flour – 1/2 cup
- Coconut grated – 1/4 cup
- Cardamom Powder – 1 tsp
- Cooking Soda – 1/4 tsp
- Oil as needed
- Water as needed
1.Take rava in a bowl and add water until it gets immersed and set aside for half an hour.
2.After that add powdered jaggery and mix well until it gets dissolved.
3.Add wheat flour, all purpose flour, coconut, cardamom powder, cooking soda to it and mix everything well.
4.Add little water if required to form a thick batter like idly batter consistency.
5.Heat a paniyaram pan, add oil and spoon the batter in the pan. Cook on both sides till it becomes golden brown.
6.The delicious rava appam is ready.
- No need to roast the rava.
- All purpose flour can be replaced by rice flour.
- This can also be prepared by deep frying in oil.
