Vanilla custard powder ice cream is my first ice cream recipe tried at home. When I decided of doing ice cream and googled, got this recipe from my fellow blogger. Surprised with the taste of eggless simple ice cream made with the ingredients at home and I have used homemade fresh cream. The kids at home will definitely enjoy having this. Decorate it with nuts, fruits, chocolates or wafers as per your taste.
- Custard powder – 3 tsp
- Sugar – 6 tsp
- Milk – 3 cups
- Fresh cream – 3 tsp
- cherries – 10
1.Boil milk and reserve little amount for mixing custard powder without lumps.
2.Add sugar and custard mixture to the boiling milk. Stir continuously without forming lumps.
3.Let it become thick to pouring consistency like dosa batter. Allow it to cool completely.
4.Transfer to mixer and add fresh cream. Whip the mixture for a minute till frothy.
5.Pour it into airtight container and place it in freezer for an hour. After 1-2 hours again beat the mixture in mixer for a minute and freeze.
6.Repeat this process 4-5 times with an interval of one hour to avoid ice formation.
7.Finally add chopped cherries and freeze it over night or 6-7 hours.
8.Keep it outside for few minutes and scoop it to enjoy the custard powder ice cream.
- Adding more custard powder will make the ice cream harder.
- Condensed milk can be added to enhance the taste.
- Any flavour of custard powder can be used.
