Vinayagar Chathurthi is celebrated in a very grand manner all over India by offering different special sweets like kozhukattai, poli, payasam and sundal in order to invite Lord Ganesha to our home. A very big clay idol of Vinayagar in different style is placed in every street in our place. They perform pooja and offer the prasadham to everyone in the area. We also get a small clay idol of Vinayagar and do pooja at home for about three days. Then, the idol is dissolved in any lake or well. We usually keep the idol in a street temple so the people collect all the idols and take it to any river to dissolve it. While taking the idols, they perform rituals and play devotional songs and dance. This is how I have celebrated Vinayagar Chathurthi all these years in my place. Also, I have seen the celebration in Gujarat where people prepare large quantity of sweets daily and place it in the gate entrance of apartment so the people passing can have it. While living there I have prepared Coconut ladoo with Jaggery which was a very bit hit in our apartment.
Here is the collection of few recipes that I have listed for Vinayagar Chathurthi celebration and I have managed to prepare some new recipes this year.
